Upcoming Sector Specific Workshops


Careers and Business Relations (CBR) have organised the following sector specific workshops, which are being delivered by industry specialists this semester.

The Oil and Gas Industry Today. A Brief Overview. Are there typical routes in?

Date: Tuesday 10th March, Time: 10:00 – 13:00, Location: Herringham 232

What implications will the drop on oil prices have on the oil industry and employment prospects? The Oil and Gas industry workshop is delivered by Vince Pizzoni, our Oil and Gas Coach. Vince has over 30 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry at an international level. He is currently working as a consultant for Preng & Associates, a specialist oil and gas consultancy firm.

From Student to Practitioner in Psychotherapy or Counselling, What to Expect

Date: Wednesday 18th March, Time: 17:30 – 18:30, Location: Acland 112

Making the transition from study to Practitioner can be sometimes quite challenging. This workshop is being delivered by Baffour Ababio, a qualified psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and currently the Clinical Director at NAFSIYAT intercultural Therapy Centre. He also runs a successful private practice. Baffour will map out options to help you think and prepare you to make that transition smoothly.

Careers in Finance: City Guide

Date: Thursday 19th March, Time: 10:00 – 12:00, Location: T023 Reuters Room

The Careers in Finance workshop is delivered by Guilllaume Tardi-Joubert, who has worked as an Analyst and in Mergers and Acquisitions in the City. This workshop looks at Corporate Finance in London and will include detailed information on the type of jobs, firms to join, internship programs, career paths, interview processes and hot sectors.

Shale Gas in the UK. Will it solve our energy issues?

Date: Tuesday 14th April, Time: 10:00 – 13:00, Location: Darwin 02

The emergence of shale gas in the US has completely changed the global energy picture going forward. Will it have a similar impact in the UK? This workshop will explore Shale Gas and its importance and impact on the energy sector. Delivered by our Oil & Gas Career Coach, Vince Pizzoni.

Careers in Psychotherapy and Counselling

Date: Thursday 23rd April, Time: 17:30 – 18:30, Location: Darwin 02

This workshop will give you an understanding of some of the initial career options open to you and what it will be like to work as a Psychotherapist or Counsellor in various settings. It will be delivered by Geoff Ferguson, who worked as a psychotherapist since 1980.

Starting Your Own Business in the UK

Date: Saturday 25th April, Time: 10:00 – 16:00, Location: Darwin 02

The session will cover the steps you need to consider setting up a business as well as the requirements to do so in the UK. The workshop is delivered by Denis Goussarov who is himself a UK business owner and a company director.
